Verdict

Division Two of this contest is equally as moderate as its predecessor and AZYGOUS can confirm the promise of a decent effort after a 297-day layoff last time to win it, while Foreign Rhythm is respected and Exceedingly Good is an obvious one for consideration. Our pick was making his debut for the yard when runner-up to Ryedane over course and distance, and the winner has since gone on to defy a 6lb rise and win again. With a good draw and conditions to suit we'll take the seven-year-old to follow suit. Foreign Rhythm won this race 12 months ago when under the tutelage of Nigel Tinkler. Now with Ron Barr, he comes here in reasonable form but 5lb higher in the weights and may go well without winning. Exceedingly Good was a 6f Nottingham winner last time. He will relish conditions but does seem better over that longer trip and now 4lbs higher he is worth taking on. Fashion Icon remains a maiden after 21 attempts to break her duck but has her best chance to date if able to overcome a poor draw, though Azygous will do for us. Jonathan Doidge.
