Verdict

The well bred Godolphin runner NAMECHECK showed enough promise on debut to suggest he is the answer to this maiden puzzle with Ostentation looking an interesting newcomer for Mark Johnston while Amtaar is heading in the right direct and should go close again. A good deal green on his first run the selection wasn't far beaten when placing in a decent Newcastle contest. The form from that has been franked when the second then placed third in a listed contest and with the extra furlong likely to help he sets the standard. Ostentation is a half brother to the high-class Hatta Fort and looks one from this yard that will head for Godolphin if making the grade. Success as a two-year-old looks a given but with the yard's juveniles often needing their first run this season we we'll just watch with interest. Amtaar has improved in his last two efforts both times shaping as if this step up in trip will suit while any positive market move for Princess Emma should be watched as she is from a stable who can get one ready first time. This could be a maiden for the notebooks and Namecheck is a decent yardstick.
