Verdict
Only a handful catch the eye here and it may be best left to Faayej and Greenwich Meantime to fight it out for the major prize, which Act Of Honour and Itchington expected to fight it out for the final place. And the experience of Faayej may prove to be the decisive factor today. Sir Michael Stoute's colt fared well on similar ground on his debut at Sandown before putting in an improved display at Newcastle behind Lodger, who was far from disgraced in the Melrose Stakes at York earlier in the week. The son of Sadlers Wells should have no problems at all with the trip and, although he will no doubt be sent off at a short price, he could be too experience for Greenwich Meantime at this stage. Act Of Honour had a choice of entries this week and the Alhaarth filly is one to note for next time.
