In depth

Verdict

This amateur rider's event can go the way of Eijaaz, with Garibaldi, Alberts Story, and Harry The Hawk a few more in with a chance. Eijaaz has not won for over two years now, but shaped well when third behind another of today's rivals, Garibaldi, at Newcastle a fortnight ago. He was only run out of it close home, and can meet the latter on much better terms, so with the capable Carol Bartley on board, he is taken to get back to winning ways. Alberts Story and Gala Sunday were second and third at Hamilton earlier this month, and on today's terms, Richard Fahey's three-year-old can be fancied to maintain that form at least, while Harry The Hawk is still a maiden but has a decent pilot on board. Eijaaz makes most appeal in the finale.
