Verdict

Pacharana completed a four-timer in low-grade handicaps under Jamie Spencer before a well beaten runner-up in an apprentices' race at Pontefract. This is the jockey's only booked ride of the meeting so Luca Cumani must mean business. Gaelic Tiger made a successful debut for Mark Johnston at Carlisle in August and might just have needed his comeback at Newcastle a couple of weeks ago. He will have come on for the run and should go well though MASTERPAVER (NAP) looks the one to beat. He completed a double last May and though unsuccessful since and 21lb higher he's competed with credit in higher-grade handicaps. Be Perfect gained the tenth victory of his career at Catterick and is only 4lb higher but does better on less demanding tracks while Peterhouse hasn't won for a long time though is back on the same mark as his last victory here in 2015.
