Verdict

Slatey Hen, runner-up six times in 2013 alone, seems sure to contend yet again despite the impost of topweight. Just outpointed here the last time by Even Bolder in a similar contest, it would not surprise were consistency finally rewarded. However, RIDGEWAY SAPPHIRE delivered a much better effort when second of 12 here in a competitive if moderate handicap when hunting up Hamis Al Bin last week. A repeat of that, which is by no means assured on previous evidence, would see Mark Usher's mare go very close and she receives a tentative nod. Renoir's Lady is interesting at the trip for the first time whilst Tooley Woods was dropped 3f in trip last time when a close third to Steel Rain at Chepstow. Yet to score over the minimum trip, that was a promising effort in the context of this race.
