Verdict

Interesting to see two of the septet come here on the back of runs in Royal Ascot juvenile contests. PRIDE AND JOY was understandably well beaten in the Coventry Stakes but previous efforts over this trip in useful maiden company at Newmarket, and especially Goodwood, mark him down as the one to beat. His yard enjoyed a couple of winners last week and he can account for Tones who made a satisfactory debut over course and distance last month. He will benefit from that experience and rates the danger. Copper Falls has fair form to her name but it lacks the depth of the selection's efforts and only beat two home in a large-field Windsor Castle Stakes at the Royal meeting. Moreover, she is unproven at this trip.
