Verdict
Yarmouth selling winner Fife And Drum has claims back in handicap-company but narrow preference is for White Plains who seemed to show improved form in a claimer last time and gets the vote over Khuzdar. The last mentioned has slipped to an attractive mark and showed signs of a return to form in a Catterick seller last time but, having failed to trouble the judge since his debut, he is probably not one to trust implicitly. Birth of The Blues has claims on his second at Windsor last month but has disappointed in two starts since and a bigger threat may be Blue Streak, who represents the stable of Gary Moore that always has to be respected here. However, White Plains, a prolific winner on the all-weather, can take advantage of a lenient turf rating. Tony Newcombe's 10-year-old showed enough in a claimer over course and distance two starts ago to suggest that he can take a hand at this level and, in a poor contest, he looks worth a small investment.
