Verdict
At the weights Steig is the obvious choice here and he gets the vote ahead of Ten To The Dozen and The Gaikwar. Carl Llewellyn's gelding is 7lb better off with Ten To The Dozen for just over two lengths from when the latter beat him on good ground at Warwick last month. The slight concern is that this would be the minimum trip for Steig, but he is well in at the weights compared to if this were a handicap and he can make that pay. Ten To The Dozen will appreciate the return to a claimer after being stuffed in handicaps on his last two starts and is respected. The Gaikwar is not favoured by the weights but hails from an in form yard and has his optimum trip to boot, so he could pick up some money. Looter is a potential fly in the ointment, tried as he is in this grade for the first time, and money for him would be interesting. Little else makes appeal and Steig is the one for us here.
