Ethics Girl is getting no closer despite slipping down the weights while Dubai Glory's best run of the season was a second over C&D in May. Steely won over track and trip in June but is 9lb higher today and course regular Filun remains out of sorts. Maastricht produced a better effort on his latest start at Ripon and has claims if right back to his best here, but the less-exposed VARNISH gets the vote in the hope that this longer trip will bring further improvement from Richard Hannon's Salisbury winner.
