Verdict
Victor Trumper, Mick Is Back and The Dagger are the trio to concentrate upon and we are with the first named. Although he has somewhat lost his way since leaving Peter Chapple-Hyam, Victor Trumper has at least demonstrated some ability in his past. This is not a strong race and hence our choice is made with minimal commitment. Mick Is Back is moderate but has obvious claims. We would have liked to have seen George Margarson train more winners this season. The Dagger has ran well here before so is respected despite being a maiden. Arctic Desert has to be respected with Gay Kelleway's stable in such great form. His win record on turf of 1-43 pails in comparison with that of the all-weather. The Jailer is sure to set off at a lungbursting gallop before treading water in the final furlong. Alex Hales is sending out winners at present so it would be no surprise to see Razzano attracting support in the market. Convince is tried in first time blinkers. Tiepie was well backed as if something was anticipated on his latest outing. A poor race and Victor Trumper is reluctantly put up as our idea of the winner.
