In depth

Verdict

RIO ROYALE can continue the rich vein of form of his stable in this lowbrow opener today. The four-year-old has performed with some credit in cheekpieces and those have been retained again. Clerical has been a credit to Robert Cowell and bids for a four timer having won three on the reel at Yarmouth and Redcar. Bateleur would be well in on some of his old form though he has not shown too much around this esoteric circuit. Shakespeare's Son was the subject of a pretty heavy gamble last time out and may have finished closer had he not given away so much ground at the start. Of the remainder, Boldinor is a course-and-distance winner so has to be respected as a consequence.
