Verdict

Papradon is in good form as he reverts to hurdling but he might be vulnerable to DRUM MAJOR now he enters handicaps. Rated 53 on the flat, Jim Best's well-bred gelding looks fairly handicapped now running off a mark of 85 over hurdles. The blinkers are back on (wore them once, to no great effect on the flat) and if supported in the betting it will pay to take heed. Papradon can race off the same mark as when sauntering home at Newton Abbot last time but that was a poor race and this is no 'shoe-in'. Monsieur showed more last time and has experience of the track, and probably rates more of a threat than recent selling-grade winner Robbmaa, runner-up London Times and the third home Frosty's Gift. Ilewin Tom is not discounted back over hurdles but still looks opposable off his current rating of 69. Louis Ludwig was pulled-up on his recent debut for Tim Vaughan (race won by Papradon) but might relish a switch back to hurdles.
