Verdict
Taruskin will be a warm order here and he gets the call over On The Waterfront and Lin In Gold. The selection carries topweight here but finished just three lengths behind 2,000 Guineas hopeful Haafhd at Newmarket last season prior to showing up well in a handicap back at the same track 10 days ago. He's been raised two pounds for that run and now steps up a furlong in distance, but he should be able to cope with both quite comfortably. On The Waterfront comes here fit following thee all-weather runs this season and a mark of just 66 for his handicap bow, and his first run on Turf, has not exactly overstated his potential. Vamose ran well in the second of his four runs last season but, overall, has something to prove, while Lin In Gold won well over course and distance on his debut before flopping at Doncaster. He should do better this year and could go well. Overall, though, Taruskin looks the one to beat.
