Verdict
We'll take a chance here on Guns Blazing, with Tappit, Pulse, Lady Pekan and Taboor being others to consider in a tricky contest. The selection is a course and distance winner who now races from just a one-pound higher mark than for his last win. Knowing that a horse acts well on this idiosyncratic track is a useful pointer when assessing the race. As such, course winner Tappit, who will be wearing cheekpieces today and is back on a winning mark, has to be given consideration, as does Pulse, who is just two-pounds higher than his best winning mark and is a course and distance scorer. While Lady Pekan has never won here, she holds very solid claims based on her good second to Cape Royal at Epsom - which is not dissimilar to this track - last time and looks very reasonably weighted. Taboor, with Kieren Fallon booked, can be given a squeak, as could Yorkie, were it not for the fact that he is probably better at six furlongs. As we say, it's a tricky race, and one in which we will side with Guns Blazing.
