made all, kept on strongly from 2 out
tracked leaders in 3rd, kept on same pace from 3 out
tracked winner, ridden before last, kept on and no impression
in rear and in touch, one pace and no impression from 3 out
Count Meribel and My Old Gold enjoyed success last season but have plenty to find on these terms with the main protaganists. Kildisart was a smart novice chaser last season culminating in a handicap victory at Aintree but had earlier finished well behind runner-up LOSTINTRANSLATION in the Grade 1 Novices’ Chase at Cheltenham. The latter went one better in the Mildmay at Aintree in April and Colin Tizzard’s high-class chaser is taken to make a winning return.
Lostintranslation (IRE) 3-1 (11-4) Held up in 3rd, close up 4 out, left clear 2nd next, poised to challenge between last 2, led before last where not fluent, pushed clear flat, in no danger after, easily, won at Aintree 3m 1f (1) sft in Apr beating Topofthegame (11-4) by 6l, 6 ran.
Kildisart (IRE) 8-1 (11-12) Held up in rear, steady headway approaching 12th, mistake 4 out, led approaching last, soon ridden, driven out, won at Aintree 3m 1f hcp (1) gd in Apr beating Mister Malarky (11-11) by 5l, 18 ran.
Count Meribel 66-1 (11-4) Held up towards rear, mistake 7th, pushed along after 4 out, effort to chase leaders next, outpaced home turn, 6th and no impression when mistake 2 out, weakened after, mistake last, 7th of 12, 26 3/4l behind Topofthegame (11-4) at Cheltenham 3m (1) sft in Mar.
