      Verdict

      Undoubtedly the highlight of the card with a fascinating chase in prospect. Man Murphy has been a credit to connections over the winter since switching to chasing. The gelding has already posted five victories in Novice chases and sets the standard for the Northern scene. His stable is in wretched form though and this hardly inspires confidence in him as a betting medium. On the formbook, he is clear of Freds In the Know, who probably would have preferred faster ground. Mr Woodentop has done little wrong in his short career and it is harsh to attempt to find fault with him. The Roselier gelding stays forever but with the trip just two-and-a-half miles, it may be worth opposing this progressive type today. We like the chances of Joly Bey. He has kept company with the top novices in the South this term and is a highly polished jumper. The front-runner has looked a suspect stayer over three miles in the past but he was highly impressive when winning at Sandown over the trip and confirmed his well-being with a win at Chepstow a few days ago. Ebony Light and St Bee have plenty to do on what they have shown on the racecourse so far
