In depth

Verdict

SUBTLE GREY beat Morning Royalty, who runs earlier, in a novices' handicap here in December then didn't quite last home over this trip on very testing ground at Chepstow. He should have no problems with the distance in this small field and can get back to winning ways. Courtown Oscar was pulled up in that latter event which was a surprise as he'd been going really well previously. He's twice won over hurdles here and if forgiven that poor run would have to greatly respected. Kilbree Chief has returned to action after a very long break in good form and there was plenty to like about his second to the in-form Un Noble at Ayr.
