In depth
Verdict
Gemini Future has been found an excellent opportunity to lose his maiden tag, and is confidently expected to score here, with Pop Up Again and Samuel Charles best of the rest. Gemini Future was not beaten far at Folkestone three weeks ago and this looks slightly easier. The Alec Stewart stable is not a regular visitor to this track but has scored here in the past, and the booking of Kevin Darley for this colt gives us added confidence. Pop Up Again is rightfully toprated upon juvenile form for James Bethell but it is worrying that this is a belated three-year-old debut and begins the season with a new trainer. She handles fast ground and should appreciate seven furlongs, so has to be respected. Samuel Charles finished fourth in a Warwick maiden on his debut, form which doesn't look particularly strong. The five-year-old looks a forecast option nevertheless. Just One Smile ran creditably last time but Kevin Darley appears to prefer Gemini Future, and so do we.
