Verdict
There is not that much between a number of these on official ratings, with Harry Hooly getting the call over Gary's Pimpernel and Mandingo Chief. Harry Hooly improved on his chasing debut to finish third over course and distance last time and that rates as solid form in this event. Gary's Pimpernel should improve for a reasonable debut effort over fences and he won over today's trip over hurdles. Ipledgeallegiance showed some promise on his chasing debut, but that was only three days ago, and others are preferred by us. Much as Mandingo Chief's Folkestone second last time on his chasing debut was a reasonable effort, he will need to improve on that to score, although that was his first run after a layoff and he is entitled to. Finally, Oliverjohn has been a bit in-and-out over fences so far, with the form of his third to Cordilla being the pick. A repeat of that gives him claims, while Datito, who would be hard to fancy to win today, could by now have run at Newcastle on Saturday. Once again, though, we give the vote to Harry Hooly.
