Verdict
Simply Supreme had a good season as a novice last season and is taken to make a winning return in this intermediate chase at the main expense of Giocomo and Temple Dog. The selection was prone to the odd error and was a faller at the first fence when last seen in the Scottish National but when he got it right, as at Aintree's Grand National meeting, Sue Smith's gelding was useful. Granted a clear round, he should be too classy for his rivals today. Giocomo and also ran in the Scottish National, being pulled up before four out but is better judged on earlier form in novice events. He has to be respected but faces no easy task off level weights with the selection and a bigger threat may come from Temple Dog. The eight-year-old ended last season back over hurdles but had earlier showed respectable form over the larger obstacles, including when landing a novice event at Uttoxeter. Neither Alfy Rich nor Suggest make much appeal in a race that is taken to go Simply Supreme.
