Verdict
By Alderbrook out of a half-sister to Anzum, Alcris is bred to be useful and is fancied to make a winning debut over hurdles with The Frosty Ferret and Minster Shadow rated the main dangers. The selection has shown promise in two starts in bumpers but should do better now that he tackles hurdles and a longer distance. Sports Express is more exposed than most of these but does have form, including when with cut in the ground, to suggest that he can play a part in the finish. Len Lungo's Kupka has form in point-to-points but is probably best watched on his rules debut and of more interest may be The Frosty Ferret. Malcolm Jefferson's gelding has shown promise in bumpers and again in two starts over hurdles and could be interesting if fully wound up for his seasonal reappearance. Peter Beaumont's Profowens was well held on his hurdling debut having shown plenty of promise in bumpers previously and may just need the outing today and a bigger threat may come from Minster Shadow. The last mentioned makes his debut over timber here but Chris Grant's gelding has shown a reasonable level of form in National Hunt flat races and could be of interest. However, Alcris is taken to begin living up to his pedigree.
