Verdict
Very Tasty can add to his previous course and distance success at the expense of Free Will and Gardor in the opening event at the Lakeland track. Martin Todhunter is always a trainer to fear at this venue and there is sure to be plenty of support for Very Tasty on his third start for the stable. The gelding was trained by Edna Slack when landing a seller here in May, aided by the fitting of a tongue-strap. He has failed to sparkle in two runs for Todhunter but it is a fact that some horses act here far better than others, and as this is a weak race on the face of it, Very Tasty's course form makes him the one to beat. Free Will shaped well when fourth at Hexham after a long break, and has since had a run out on the flat at Catterick. He is well-handicapped these days and appears to be the danger, while Gardor has a squeak on last year's narrow defeat at Kelso. Pavey Ark has a light weight but needs to show a bit more, and so Very Tasty gets the vote.
