Verdict
STORMONT DAWN is taken to defy a seven pounds rise in the weights since his last win, while both Babe Heffron and Sycho Fred are shortlisted to run well. The selection stayed-on well in testing conditions at Carlisle when scoring in March. He does step down in trip but he has shown more than enough speed in his previous races to suggest that this will not be a concern, and with the ground on the soft side of good he has conditions once again to suit. If he recaptures his recent form he will not be far away come the business end of the race. Babe Heffron won well at Lingfield in March but was disappointing at Uttoxeter when pulling-up four out last time out. Tom George has his string of horses in good order of late but he has questions to answer after that recent poor performance. Sycho Fred has suffered recent jumping issues and improvement is required in that sphere, but at his best he has each-way claims. This does not look the best of races on paper and Stormont Dawn ticks more boxes than most so is given the vote.
