Verdict

A maiden hunter chase is hardly the best of contests to get involved in and so only a tentative vote goes to Farington Lodge over Heavy Weather, Buddy Girie and Lady Lambrini. Most of these have been plying their trade between the flags, but the selection was going well enough when falling five out at Catterick on his last outing under rules in March, and if fit enough can get the losses back, as he was sent off favourite that day. He was a fair second to Red Rampage in heavy ground at Newcastle the time before, and the better ground here will help his cause. Usual pilot Niall Saville rides, and he gets the nod over Heavy Weather who has been in good form in point-to-points, his latest effort being a comprehensive odds-on victory over just four opponents at Brampton Bryan. At least he stays, and he makes more appeal than Buddy Girie who failed to impress on his latest outing. Lady Lambrini won a point two weeks ago and at the age of five has time on her side at least, but Farington Lodge has more experience and has better claims of opening his account under rules.
