    Verdict

MALCHEEK is the selection with Punching and H Harrison put up as dangers. Tim Easterby's seven-year-old is far from the most frequent of scorers but he has run well fresh in the past and with the heady combination of drying ground and a drop in the handicap, we will offer him up at what are likely to be juicy odds. Punching has had regular appointments at Southwell over the winter period. Conor Dore's charge has obliged at Brighton and Windsor in the past. H Harrison is a previous course and distance winner and with three runs already under his belt, there can be no excuses this afternoon. Ergo is on a hat-trick this afternoon having obliged in two handicaps at Wolverhampton over longer trips. Violent Velocity and No Grouse are more than capable of landing this pot though their inconsistency make them hard for punters to catch right. Ancient Cross failed to face up to the headgear and is watched in the market without it today. Malcheek should be a decent price and is recommended albeit to small stakes.
