Verdict

Porto Santana is best in at the weights judged by BHA ratings but the David Nicholls-trained gelding has only beaten one horse home in his last two starts - latterly in a seller at Ripon - so he looks best watched with preference for BLINDSPIN, who gets the vote over Royal Applord. The last mentioned disappointed in a Beverley claimer last time but that was on testing ground and Kevin Ryan's gelding may do better on a faster surface today. Alan Swinbak's Orchestrion is less exposed than her rivals after just four starts and has to be of interest racing in this grade for the first time. Rub Of The Relic is a consistent performer and should again be thereabouts but he invariably finds at least one too good having been placed in 10 of his 14 starts and may be booked for a place at best again.
