In depth

Verdict

Mr Wolf will probably try to make the running again despite a tricky-looking draw but David Barker's gelding invariably ends up setting races up for good finishers and is taken to do that here for the David Nicholls-trained ICE PLANET, who gets the verdict over stable companion Northern Bolt. The last mentioned will probably try and take on Mr Wolf for the lead but like David Barker's runner he does not have the best of draws and may struggle to get to the front from stall 11. Johannes has not won since his two-year-old days but has been running well in defeat of late so has to be considered. Tom Dascombe's The Game won his first race on turf this season when successful at Newmarket in July but he is arguably better on the Polytrack, while Sandwith is a consistent performer and should again be thereabouts. The vote though goes to Ice Planet, who ran much better at Hamilton last time, has slipped to a decent mark and gets the verdict to resume winning ways from a decent draw.
