    Verdict

Dew Pond landed a double over 1m6f earlier this year but could only manage third at Doncaster last time, despite escaping a penalty, and is 4lb higher today. Jan Smuts ended a long losing run with a win at Ripon in May but West Coast Flyer is less exposed, though both wins so far have come on the all-weather. Course regular Sherman McCoy is a rare winner nowadays but DOMINADA (NAP) is still improving and won over 1m6f at Musselburgh last time. Brian Ellison’s dual course winner stays this longer trip so gets the nod.
