Verdict
Not the most inspirational opener and one that can be taken by Baytown Shamrock, with Blue Moon Hitman and Barras likely to be involved at the business end. The selection has been running well in defeat over this trip, with his second-placed efforts at Beverley and Lingfield in selling company during may looking good enough for him to land this if he can reproduce that form in a very moderate affair. The draw has gone against Baytown Shamrock, but in a small field that should not be quite as marked and he can score. Blue Moon Hitman has looked pretty ordinary so far, but in a poor race he still has chances of making the frame based on his effort behind Big Bradford at Carlisle last month and the fast ground here should help him get home. More consistent has been Barras, who has just run out of gas in two recent races, last time over 7f and prior to that over this minimum trip. One paced when the tap is turned on, Barras can nevertheless make the frame here, but the vote goes to Baytown Shamrock.
