In depth

Verdict

Quince was the ready winner of a selling nursery at Leicester last week after which he was bought out of Andrew Balding's stable and now faces a more difficult task off a 12lb higher mark for Jeff Pearce in a race that is taken to go to North Walk ahead of In A Flash. The selection showed improved form for being stepped up in distance at Redcar last time and, with more improvement to come, he looks worth a bet off today's 4lb higher mark. Abbey Cat was narrowly beaten over six furlongs at Carlisle last time and may do better back up in distance, while Spasiba has to be respected given that she is trained by Sir Mark Prescott although she does need to improve. Flying Key is consistent and should be thereabouts again although a bigger threat is likely to come from In A Flash who opened her account when landing a similar contest on a soft surface at Lingfield last time and, if the rain comes, she would have an obvious chance off today's 4lb higher mark. North Walk looks to be going the right way now though and is taken to follow up his Redcar success.
