In depth

Verdict

Some dour stayers on display here in what looks quite an open contest. Supreme Breeze is the selection to lead them home and gain compensation for an unlucky defeat last time. Three lengths clear and looking all over the winner, he blundered and unseated two out. Still off a feather weight, trip and going are in his favour and trainer Ferdy Murphy has just hit form, so providing he jumps better he looks to have an outstanding chance. The grey Misty Class is back on a winning mark here after being off the course for a year. The ten-year-old will therefore be fresh, likes the ground and also comes from a yard on a good long-term run of form, so he looks sure to be in the shake-up. Scotmail Boy looks to be exposed, though he has run well off higher marks in the past. Ideally he would prefer further than this and he is badly in need of a confidence booster. Cool Investment shapes as if this trip will suit him. Best with cut in the ground, Robert Stronge's gelding is still on the same mark as when running well in similar company at Plumpton last time and has a definite chance. Woodfield Gale is the only course and distance winner in the race. Admittedly he would prefer better ground, but coming from a yard with a formidable record here he looks interesting and also thrown in on some of his previous form.
