In depth

Verdict

Having had to starve himself to do 10st 1lb on Chicuelo in the Thomas Pink, Tony McCoy will be appreciative of the luxury of 10st 10lb on Bongo Fury. The three-year-old comes into this on top of his form following wins at Ludlow and in handicap company at Stratford. He can race off the same mark as on the latter occasion here and, against some older rivals, can make the most of his current mark. The Pipe/McCoy team again get the TEAMtalk vote, albeit a tentative one in a contest where the size of the field suggests that a good pin is needed! The Venetia Williams-trained Chem's Truce has claims but does not find much off the bridle and is not particularly well treated now. Topweight Treasured Guest has more on his plate than when winning at Wexford last month. All three of Mrs Harrington's runners have claims, with Attack just preferred over Slaney Fox and Pescetto Lady, while Scented Air may not have the hurdling experience for a race as competitive as this. Plenty of others have chances but it is the Pipe horse that appeals most.
