Verdict

BARTERS HILL seems to tick all the boxes for this. He was a high-class bumper horse last season and has made a smooth transition to hurdles. Successful in the Grade 1 Challow Hurdle in December, he was always holding Ballydine when stepped up to 3m at Doncaster last time and can maintain his unbeaten record. Gangster is making giant strides and may be the pick of the seven Willie Mullins-trained runners having comfortably handled the step up to pattern race company at Fairyhouse in December. That's despite the fact that Long Dog has only been beaten once in eight career starts – he take a big step up in trip today. Shantou Village should be a danger with the ground having turned in favour of Neil Mulholland's charge. He lost his unbeaten record against Neptune Investment second Yanworth over 2m4f here in January but the going was heavy that day and would not have been ideal – he'd put Champers On Ice firmly in his place at this track earlier. Fagan was beaten less than a length by the useful O O Seven at Musselburgh last time over this trip and could stay on into a place if some of the market leaders fail to fire.
