Nonrunner

In depth

Verdict

Another big field with a maximum of sixteen runners. Martin Pipe trains the recent Hereford winner Dinarelli who after six attempts looked exposed. He has to carry a seven-pound penalty today for that win but connections must feel that the handicapper may well punish the horses rating so a quick reappearance is necessary. Gan Eagla pulled up rather disappointingly at Stratford last time out. Prior to that he had shown good form when third beaten a little over eight lengths at Market Rasen. With that bad last run a big question mark hangs over him today. Barney Curley only ever has a handful of horses in his care but they are all potential winners. Kalou runs in the familiar colours of notorious bookmaker and racehorse owner Patsy Byrne. This horse ran on the flat at Lingfield last time out when running a creditable third over a mile and a quarter. Prior to that he was travelling well three out at Wetherby before making a mistake and fading into six place. Keep an eye on the market before backing this one! Robert Alner has very few runners this time of year. He trains Avas Delight who has shown himself to be a model of consistency recently. He ran out a game winner of a similar contest at Wincanton at the end of March and lost nothing in defeat to stable mate Manawanui at Exeter thereafter and looks a sure bet to give punters another big run for their money here.
