Verdict
This finally looks to be the opportunity the connections of Summitville have been waiting for as the daughter of Grand Lodge bids for her first win since her juvenile days. The improving Albahja and Discuss are expected to pose the most problems. The latter has a handy weight-for-age allowance and it will be interesting to note how she fares on her first try over 10 furlongs. She is a half-sister to Conclude and Colophony, who both won at this trip as three-year-olds, so the distance should not be an issue. However, she was well held in the Coronation Stakes and, as she still has a bit of maturing to do, she may find her elder rivals a touch too wily at this stage. Similar comments apply to Albahja, even though she has won over a mile and a half. She takes a big step up in class here and the jury is out as to whether she is up to the task at this stage. Therefore, we prefer to go with the proven form of Summitville, who does not know how to run a bad race. Placed in the 2003 Oaks, James Given's charge has not shirked a challenge since and, as this is her easiest test at this level for a while, Summitville is fancied to finally deliver the goods again tonight.
