Verdict

In an interesting finale, Astyanax is just preferred to the hat trick seeking Misternando and the lightly-raced Golden Skis. Misternando comes here in peak form, having won two handicaps at Yarmouth in his last two starts, and although penalised five pounds for that latest win he seems sure to stay this extra two furlongs and rates a big danger here. Golden Skis has only raced four times, made late gains when fourth on his handicap debut and could easily improve over this two mile trip for the first time. However, the one we really like here is Sir Mark Prescott's Astyanax, who has had a short break since finishing second to The Persuader at Nottingham in May. The winner followed up on his next two starts, so the form looks rock solid and the horse is sure to be suited by this test of stamina.
