Verdict
Ascot Day won last year’s renewal off a slightly higher mark and a recent second over track and trip suggests another bold bid is likely. But FRENCH RIVIERA (NAP) posted a much better effort over 1m2f here last time when second to the progressive Songkran and she looks set to open her account having gone close over today’s longer distance last year off a 5lb higher mark. Triple Nickle won at Windsor before placing over track and trip and the return to faster going will suit while Magic Shuffle scored at Bath last month and is preferred to the frustrating Hammy End, who has placed in all five outings so far this year.
