In depth

Verdict

MINSGILL MANS represents strong local connections and is given the nod here ahead of Montenda, Thirtytwo Red and William Somers. James Tudor's gelding needs a market check here and if the vibes are positive then he might be worth backing. He has won his last two point-to-points, most recently at Cilwendeg and with a good pilot in John Mathias on-board he should run well. William Somers is fitted with a tongue-tie for the first time on the racecourse proper and has a very consistent profile. His recent second to My Old Piano at Leicester on similar ground to today rates as good form for this race and as a result he looks a major player, as does Turbulance who is proven on the going. Thirtytwo Red should have come on for a fair effort behind Rash Move at Taunton and it would be a surprise were he not to improve on that today, whilst Saucy Bingo and Sandyzar can only really be backed with sustained market support. Holy Walk has a poor strike-rate on the racetrack proper but is more prolific in point-to-points, whilst Montenda has not been seen for a while but has gone well fresh in the past. An open heat, but preference is for Minsgill Mans.
