Verdict

SAFARI SPECIAL may be able to improve sufficiently to get the better of Avonvalley with Admin and Saxby the other candidates for top honours. The form of the Folkestone maiden in which Safari Special made his debut has worked out well with the winner going on to land a conditions race at Goodwood and the runner-up his maiden at Yarmouth. Peter Winkworth's charge was well supported in the market and is taken to recoup losses. Avonvalley sets the standard and should go close to losing her maiden tag; she's done everything right on all three starts and is hard to knock. Admin showed promise on debut but Ralph Beckett has yet to saddle a juvenile winner and may have to wait for a little longer yet although the Namid colt is clearly open to plenty of improvement. Saxby is the most interesting of the newcomers and is related to a juvenile winner and it will be interesting to see what the market makes of his chances but Safari Special is taken to land the opener.
