Verdict

The Big Bite has shown his best for so far over 2m while Francky Du Berlais needs a quicker surface and was well behind Golden Whisky in this last year. The winner is 2lb lower with cheekpieces applied after a pipe-opener at Wetherby. Phoenix Way showed what he was capable of at Ascot at the start of the year but needs things to go his way and Allmankind still looks out of sorts. ENZO D’AIRY overcame a very long absence when getting the better of the well-backed Dalamoi here at the start of the month. Providing those exertions haven’t left their mark, Venetia Williams’ charge can defy a 6lb rise as Silver Hallmark is proving hard to train. Numitor will strip fitter for a run at Newbury, however, and Red Rookie ran well in the Arkle at Cheltenham last season before falling. Fugitif and Broken Halo are also interesting.
