    In depth

Sirjosh won well enough at Yarmouth last time but a 6lb rise for that success may prevent him from following up and preference is for LOYAL ROYAL, who gets the vote ahead of Sermons Mount. Mouse Hamilton-Fairley's gelding has run well in his last two starts but they have both been over seven furlongs and he may not be as effective dropped to six today so may be best watched. Mick Channon's Bateleur ran better at Salisbury last time and has claims along with John Spearing's Nativity, who has been placed in his last two starts but he remains a maiden after 15 outings so may be best watched. The History Man ran his best race of the season on the Polytack at Wolverhampton on his most recent start and he would have every chance if able to reproduce that form back on turf but marginal preference in a tough contest is for Milton Bradley's Loyal Royal, who has shown improved form of late and he looks worth siding with off his current mark.
