Verdict

Richard Hannon's CANDLESHOE was doing all of her best work late on at Warwick when landing a seven furlong handicap at the beginning of the month and she can follow up off just a 3lb higher mark over an extra furlong, with the main dangers rated as Hathaway and So Surreal. Gary Moore's filly steps up to a mile for the first time today and should be suited by it having stayed on well at the end of the seven furlongs at Warwick last time. Bill Turner's Could It Be Magic is another that should do better now running over this distance but he remains a maiden after 10 starts and may have to settle for a place at best. Ed Dunlop's Khajaaly is lightly raced but needs to improve, while Brian Meehan's Onyx Of Arabia has been given a chance by the handicapper but has often flattered to deceive. Mark Brisbourne's Hathaway belied odds of 28/1 when successful at Thirsk recently and she has claims off just a 3lb higher mark today but a better bet looks to be Candleshoe, who gets the vote.
