Verdict
The feature race on the card, a Listed event over six furlongs, can go to Crimson Silk ahead of Golden Nun, Look Here's Carol and Resplendent Cee. Crimson Silk was most consistent last summer, gaining back-to-back victories at Windsor, and was by no means disgraced in the ¿200,000 St Leger Yearling stakes at Doncaster on his final start of the season when a close third to Somnus, despite having to race on the softest ground that he had encountered in his short career. Derek Hayden-Jones' gelding also came up against Somnus on his return at Haydock and put in a very pleasing performance to finish third, showing plenty of pace. The stable think the world of him and will be disappointed if he does not prove up to this class. Tim Easterby, trainer of Somnus, should have a line to the chance of his runner, Golden Nun who steps down from Group company at York where she put in a splendid effort in cheekpieces to finish third behind Torosay Spring. Look Here's Carol and Croeso Croeso were behind then and look held, but Resplendent Cee may be a big danger. He lost his action a furlong out and was eased in a Group 3 at Newcastle but is better than that and can prove as much here with a prominent showing. However, Crimson Silk is taken to really fulfil his undoubted potential, despite having to come out of stall nine.
