In depth

Verdict

Mae Cigan has more to do off a 4lb higher mark than when scoring at Bath last time and preference is for Follow The Colours, who gets the vote ahead of Kavachi. The selection took the eye on his reappearance when staying on over an inadequate trip of a mile in a Bath maiden and has run respectably in two further starts over a similar trip including at Goodwood last time. This step up in trip should bring about the necessary improvement in the John Hills-trained colt and he is taken to open his account. Keisha Kayleigh is lightly raced and open to improvement but has yet to prove himself on ground this fast, while Dancing Flame ran better last time but is more exposed than most. English City is in good form and is another worthy of a mention although a bigger threat is likely to come from recent Brighton third Kavachi. Follow The Colours has his likely optimum conditions today though and he gets the vote
