A typically tough amateur riders handicap where plenty can be given chances and Andromache is only a hopeful choice to get the better of the likes of Cool Spice, The Fairy Flag and Rutland Chantry, who always has to be feared at this level. However, Andromache - a capable performer at a modest level under both codes - has one of the more promising jockeys booked for the ride and arrives here as one of the least exposed runners on the flat. The daughter of Hector Protector has been patiently brought along and has acquitted herself well in both her previous starts this season. The step up in trip is expected to bring the best out of her and the four-year-old should make a bold bid to finally rid herself of the maiden tag. Cool Spice has to be considered as a serious danger if her latest outing can be forgiven but the Phillip Hobbs-trained mare has a very stiff task in giving in excess of a 14lbs to all bar one of her rivals and will really need to be at her best to overcome the burden today. Therefore, Rutland Chantry, from a rating of just 60, could pose the selection the most problems. The Steve Gollings-trained nine-year-old goes well for an inexperienced rider and can usually be relied upon to run his race. The fact that he has also gone well here in the past is also a bonus and he is one to seriously consider if he is supported. Bachelors Pad, who won this race in 2000, is another for each way backers to think about - although recent evidence suggests that he may have lost a little interest in the game for now. Major Attraction ran well enough here at the start of August to give a squeak to at an each way price but he is hard to predict and is not one to rely on too heavily. The same can be said of Andromache with critical analysis, but she has shaped as if there are races to be won with her and she may represent the best value on offer over a course and distance that has thrown-up many surprise results over the years.
