Verdict

Broken Spur gets the confident vote here and is taken to get the better of his chief rivals Mistatake and Brave Fight. The selection hails from a yard with a good strike-rate at this track, and he has gone close on each of his last two starts. His latest second behind Faith And Reason, when he was only beaten a neck, reads well in the context of this race and, from a good draw, he is near impossible to oppose. Mistatake could prove to be the main danger as this newcomer from the Kevin Ryan yard catches the eye on breeding. He also has the plum draw and is respected, but he will need to be quite useful to get the better of our selection. Brave Fight is a half-sister to Covent Garden but she should do better over a much longer trip in time and she looks worth opposing on her racecourse bow over this sharp 7f. Methusaleh is another making his racecourse bow and he is worth noting in the market, but he looks to have plenty on from stall 8 and, for the winner, we are happy to stick with our confident choice, Broken Spur.
