This is probably not the easiest of races to solve and what can only be a tentative vote goes to Violette, who is preferred to Nantyglo and Sunday Smile. The last mentioned seemed to relish the step up to seven furlongs when beating Sir Mark Prescott's Souvenance (a winner since) at Redcar last time and may not appreciate today's slightly shorter trip. Sir Mark also has a nice line to the Mark Johnston-trained filly for his runner Violette and she is preferred. The daughter of Observatory looks to be going the right way at present and this extended six furlongs should suit ideally. Gerard Butler's Best Double has improved with each start and looks to have a nice racing weight, while Macvel struggled off her new mark at Sandown last time although that was on a softer surface than today. Tim Easterby's Gallery Girl has more to do than when winning at Haydock lat time and of more interest may be Clive Brittain's maiden Colourpoint, who has run well in decent company previously. Stormy Monday and Lavenham are others worthy of a mention although a bigger threat is likely to come from Michael Bell's Nantyglo, who is only 1lb higher than when touched off at Chepstow in a similar contest last time. Violette holds solid claims though and is taken to give the Prescott team another winner.
