In depth

Verdict

Extreme Measures created a favourable impression when making a winning debut at Newbury last month and has to be respected but is likely to be seen to better effect when tackling a longer distance next term and preference is for City of Troy, with Art Deco rated the best of the remainder. The selection was good value for his success in a Newbury conditions race on his debut last month and Sir Michael Stoute's colt is open to plenty of improvement. Similar comments apply to Charlie Egerton's Art Deco, who did little wrong on his debut at Sandown although that was on a soft surface and it remains to be seen how he will handle today's faster ground. David Barron's Ingleby Arch has more to do than when winning a Redcar maiden last time, while Nesno needs to improve on the form of his debut effort at Newcastle. The Barry Hills pair of Special Moment and Gus receive weight all round but face no easy task first time out and a safer bet looks to be City Of Troy, who is taken to follow up his debut success.
