In depth

Verdict

CASPIAN PRINCE continues to defy his advancing years and conditions here should be just about perfect for the 12-year-old, who didn’t quite get up the hill at Pontefract last time but still finished ahead of Indian Sounds. Jawwaal is slipping down the weights but is still 7lb higher than when successful over track and trip a year ago. Mountain Peak will have come on a bundle for his run at Goodwood and Bath scorer Ginger Jam also looks a threat, despite a 4lb rise. Royal Birth blew the start at Ascot after winning at Kempton but is best on Polytrack nowadays.
